Also shown in the program are the interactions between Rob, his wife, his son, and neighbors in their suburban New York neighborhood.
This program was created, written, and produced by Carl Reiner who played Alan Brady. It originally aired on CBS from October to June and ran for five seasons with episodes. It was filmed in black-and-white in front of a live studio audience, with the exception of a few episodes. This move proved successful for the show's ratings by airing right after the 1 hit The Beverly Hillbillies. Through its new time slot and word of mouth, the show steadily gained more audience viewers and picked up 15 Emmy Awards.

The Dick Van Dyke show was such a breakthrough show, innovative and well-written, and still quite timely. Many of the writers and production crew went on to be some of the most prolific contributors in TV. Too bad the rest are still under copyright, I'd sure love to see them uploaded. Most of the episodes made are very funny.
